Since 1945, Jess Howard Electric Company has been powering Central Ohio, one project, one relationship, one satisfied customer at a time. What started as Jesse E. Howard's small operation out of a garage on the east side of Columbus has grown into one of the region's leading electrical contracting firms, without ever losing the family-owned values it was built on.

Today, Jess Howard Electric employs more than 160 skilled members and operates over 250 pieces of equipment, handling all phases of electrical contracting for residential, commercial, industrial, sports lighting, airport lighting, traffic signal, underground systems, and utility work. No job is too big or too small.

Jess Howard Electric Company is a proud founding member of Independent Electrical Contractors of Central Ohio (IEC). This relationship was built many years ago through the efforts of Tim Howard Sr., whose vision helped connect our company with IEC and laid the groundwork for our apprenticeship program. Today, Jess Howard requires the IEC four-year apprenticeship as the foundation for every electrician working toward Journeyman status, a living part of his legacy that continues to give the next generation of electrical professionals the training, mentorship, and hands-on experience they need to build lasting careers in the trade.

Across eight decades, we've stayed true to what got us here: lasting business and personal relationships with the commercial, industrial, and residential customers we serve, a commitment to safety, and a reputation for quality craftsmanship. We're proud to remain family-owned, deeply rooted in the Central Ohio community, and just as invested in our people's futures as we were the day Jess Howard opened that garage door in 1945.

Our facility has grown right alongside our business- built to support the scale and complexity of the work we do, and something we take real pride in.Separate buildings house our warehouses, mechanic shop, body shop, equipment shop, and weld shop, with covered parking surrounding the perimeter to keep our trucks and equipment protected and ready to roll.

Our office space, spanning roughly 10,000 square feet, is home to our estimators, project managers, purchasing agents, and administrative staff — the team working behind the scenes to keep every job running smoothly. Our 30,000-square-foot warehouse is central to that capability, stocked with the materials our crews need to keep moving without delay, from common fittings to specialty components.
